In this edition - I wanted to keep you informed and updated on the QFES/SOU QIRC matter because I am aware of discussions happening at your work locations. However, based on legal advice, I can only talk a bit more about how we got to where we are.

In this edition - It has been reported to me that SOU members are either possibly deliberately or probably accidentally creating confusion throughout the regions about the subject matter of their union’s application to the QIRC.
v35# 22 QFES/SOU 17.5% CASE – UPDATE
In this edition - Following on from Code 2’s dated 2 and 5 July 2021, I can provide the following brief update on the progress of the QFES and SOU case against eligible members obtaining the 17.5% loading on their annual leave, as provided for by the state government last October.

In this edition - I reported to you on Friday 2 July 2021 that the QFES Senior Officers Union (SOU) had lodged an application to obtain an injunction against QFES being able to provide eligible UFUQ members with 17.5% annual leave loading.
v35#20 SOU LODGES QIRC APPLICATION TO STOP ELIGIBLE UFUQ MEMBERS FROM RECEIVING 17.5% ANNUAL LEAVE LOADING
In this edition - This Code 2 includes important information regarding eligible UFUQ member’s 17.5% annual leave loading and proceedings lodged by the QFES Senior Officers Union (SOU) to prevent those members from receiving it.
v35#19 UPDATE: QUEENSLAND HEALTH / QFRS & COVID19
In this edition - You will no doubt be aware of the growing concern over the number and strain of COVID19 infections across Australia. In Queensland, whilst the numbers of confirmed cases in this latest outbreak are still low, the state government, through Queensland Health, are taking proactive steps to attempt to keep those numbers low.

In this edition - I am pleased to report that in June 2023 the Queensland Treasurer, the Hon Mr Cameron Dick, wrote to your union confirming an increase in accumulated benefit superannuation for all members employed under the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1990, due to the forced retirement age. Of course, this includes Auxiliary Firefighters.
