QUEENSLAND FIRE DEPARTMENT – UPDATE

Discussions between your union, government representatives and Minister Ryan, the reform team headed by DC Gollschewski about the creation of the new Queensland Fire Department are positive and ongoing.

Many questions about the future are being asked by members. And whilst it is still too early to discuss many positive outcomes that are in the mix, the move from the dysfunctional QFES to a new operationally focused Queensland Fire Department is well and truly underway. What I can say with confidence is that we expect to see an attitude shift with the new department to focus on supporting the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service.

I can also report that A/DC Smith and AC Hermann will be providing a live video update that includes some announcements many of you have been waiting for, today between 1530 and 1700.  You will have received an email inviting you to the presentation to your work email addresses.  The UFUQ is not involved in providing this update and we don’t have access to the email or the log in information, so check your work email addresses.

I encourage you to join the presentation and I’ll publish another update to give you some details and hopefully answer some of your questions after that presentation has been given.

2023 - 2024 UNION FEES

Your SCM voted at the July meeting to adjust union fees for all UFUQ members for the first time since July 2021.

An increase of $0.50 (50 cents) per week will apply for all full-time, part-time and casual members and an increase of $0.50 (50 cents) per month will apply for all auxiliary firefighter members.

The increase will be effective from 1 September 2023.
