CODE 2, VOL 36, NO 15 : 11 september 2022

SEPTEMBER 11 – 21ST ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATIONS

On September 11 2001, after coordinated terrorist attacks on United States soil, the twin towers of the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan collapsed. As a result, more than 2500 people were killed and many thousands more were injured, including 343 fallen comrades from the New York City Fire Department who put themselves in harm’s way to protect the lives of those victims.

Today marks 21 years since that day, and people across the world will pause to commemorate the victims of this tragic event.

I ask that you take the opportunity today to remember the fallen firefighters.

We should not let the memories of any fallen comrades fade. They made the ultimate sacrifice and we should remember them.

UFUQ SPONSORED 911 EVENT

In Brisbane today, the firefighters are taking on the coppers at the QLD Fire and Police sports day. We wish them the best of luck. Go the Firies!

NATIONAL FIREFIGHTERS’ REMEMBRANCE DAY

On Monday 10th October 2022 firefighters, family and friends will pay tribute to firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

These services commemorate the Queensland firefighters who have lost their lives while on duty, serving the community of Queensland since 1877.

I will provide more information on how the remembrance services are to be held closer to the date.
