UFUQ SUCCEEDS IN FORCING SUSPENSION OF FBAN ROLE GIVEAWAY

I am pleased to report that due to your union’s involvement, the switch to offering FBAN and Predictive Services roles to anyone but those with relevant experience has been halted.

The state office received many emails regarding the FBAN issue, and I am now aware of the ongoing comprehensive plan, apparently hidden from the UFUQ by senior QFES management, to re-classify many fire and rescue roles.

They call this work ‘realignment’ because they think that allows them to avoid having to consult with your union. Wrong!

The process of giving away those roles with the stroke of a pen has been ceased, the job ads have been removed and now QFES are going to approach the UFUQ to sort this out once and for all (because if your union doesn’t try to keep your opportunities for professional development and progression open, no one else will).

The Commissioner and his senior management team now intend to genuinely engage on the future of FBAN and Predictive Services roles, as they always were required to do.

I will keep you updated as the ‘re-realignment’ commences.
