CODE 2, VOL 35, NO 6 : 26 march 2021

The voting period for the current State Executive has been opened by the Electoral Commission of Queensland (The ECQ).

The ECQ voting period is –

START           MIDDAY 25 MARCH 2021

END               MIDDAY 22 APRIL 2021

Please note that the ECQ rules dictate the all voting is by mail via Australia Post.  ECQ have advised your union that the ballot papers have been mailed to your private addresses you’ve supplied to the UFUQ.

We are all aware of the delays regularly experienced in sending and receiving mail through Australia Post. I therefore advise you to check your post box over the next few days for the ballot papers and to vote as early in the voting period as possible, to ensure Australia Post can return your vote to ECQ.  ECQ rules dictate that no late ballot papers will be accepted.

If you have not received you ballot in the mail by Thursday 1 April 2021, contact your union on 0738440366 or at [email protected] to check that your correct postal address is in our UFUQ membership system and to arrange for a second ballot from ECQ.

I encourage you to vote, and vote early and I wish all candidates the best of luck in this election, which is one of the most contested in recent times.

This is just a short reminder that all four days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday) of Easter are full public holidays in Queensland.

This means that whatever roster you are working (or not working) this Easter, the public holiday provisions of your award will apply to each of the four days.

You can access your award here and you can assess your entitlements by going to clause 23 and assessing which of the sub-clauses relate to your rostered work or days off on those days.

I also remind you that as ANZAC Day falls on Sunday 25 April this year, the Queensland legislation dictates that for the purposes of ANZAC Day, Sunday is a normal working day and there is an ANZAC Day public holiday on Monday 26 April.  I will send out a Code 2 specific to ANZAC Day explaining this in some detail shortly before ANZAC Day.
