1 July 2018 wage rises
The final set of wage rises provided for in CA16 kick in on 1 July 2018 for members who work under that agreement.
Fire and Rescue have written to your union stating that they have provided the required information to Queensland Shared Services and they expect the wage rises ought to be reflected in your first pay period after 1 July.
CA16 has a nominal expiry date of 30 June 2019 and that means in the near future (before the end of 2018) your state union office will be making contact with all UFUQ branches and regions to commence identification of ideas for the UFUQ log of claims for the 2019 agreement.
Pay point progression and rank progression for firefighters
I am pleased to report that there has been a successful and prompt resolution to a brewing dispute about QFES recent decision to make firefighters and station officers stay at all of the pay points at any rank prior to progressing to the next rank.
The Resolution Engagement Unit (the REU) was able to achieve a prompt and positive outcome for you and your colleagues, with Fire and Rescue now acknowledging that time at a particular pay point is not at all related to rank progression.
QFES wrote to your union confirming their agreement with what they had already agreed to in negotiations of the CA16 content (when pay points for firefighters and station officers were reintroduced).
This is a good example of the ongoing positive engagement and quick resolution to matters that is coming from QFES working with the REU, which Commissioner Carroll established with the objective of working with both your union and ‘One QFES’ to achieve outcomes such as this one.
