CODE 2, VOL 34, NO 64 : 14 december 2020

As you will recall, in August 2020, a Bill to modify Queensland’s workers’ compensation laws to include presumptive legislation for Post-traumatic Stress Injury was introduced to state parliament and referred to a parliamentary committee for consideration.

However, prior to the recent state election, the 56th Queensland Parliament was dissolved and the inquiry into the Bill lapsed.

On 26 November 2020, the Bill was reintroduced and was referred again to a parliamentary committee for consideration with a report due on Friday 12 February 2021.

You can find information regarding the current committee inquiry here, including written submissions made by the UFUQ in September and December 2020.

As always, your union will take every opportunity to advance the interests of UFUQ members with regard to this matter. On Wednesday 16 December 2020, there will be a public hearing regarding the Bill and your union will be in attendance to speak to our submissions.

I will keep you updated as these laws progress through the parliamentary system.
