CODE 2, VOL 34, NO 50: 11 september 2020

September 11 Attacks - A day to remember

In 2001, after coordinated terrorist attacks on United States soil, the twin towers of the World Trade centre in lower Manhattan collapsed. As a result of the attack, 343 New York firefighters made the ultimate sacrifice.

Firefighters continue to put themselves in harm’s way to protect the lives of others. Today, people across the world will pause and recall the events of September 11 2001 and reflect on the sacrifice those New York firefighters made.

We should not let the memories of any fallen comrades fade.  I ask that you take the opportunity today to remember fallen firefighters.

National Firefighters' Remembrance Day

On Saturday10th October 2020 firefighters, family and friends will pay tribute to firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

These services commemorate the Queensland firefighters who have lost their lives while on duty, serving the community of Queensland since 1877.

Due to Covid-19, services across Queensland will likely be affected.

I will provide more information on how the remembrance services are to be held closer to the date.
