Industrial Relations Bill 2016 – UFUQ submission

On Friday 30 September 2016 your union made a written submission to the Finance and Administration Committee of the Queensland parliament regarding the Industrial Relations Bill 2016.

The bill includes provisions for a new industrial relations Act, tidying up and replacing many outdated and previously amended provisions.

Of particular benefit to you and all members of UFUQ is the proposed ‘general protections’ provisions. Your union suggested that these ought to be included in the new Act when we provided a submission to the review of the existing legislation.

The inclusion of general protections provisions will provide workers in the Queensland industrial relations system with the same protections as those within the federal system have had for some years.  In particular, provisions protecting you and your colleagues from ‘adverse action’ being taken against you.

As the committee process continues I will keep you informed about the bill.
